There has always been quite a bit of
diverse opinion on reading (on your free time not as just being able to read).
Some people absolutely love it and cant live with out it, while others don’t
see why reading is even a necessity. I
personally don’t understand how people don’t enjoy reading.
Reading used to be a real struggle for me, especially in
elementary school. I almost failed English my 5th grade year. I just
couldn’t grasp the idea of why we have to read or how reading can be fun at
all. Then when I got pulled out of public schools I became a bored young kid
that had to stay home all day mostly everyday.
So at first I would just argue with my parents about how much
I hated home school, like with a real passion. Then after a while I got interested
in Xbox games to pass my time. Sometimes I wouldn’t even do any school work, I
would just stay home playing video games with my brother all day with no
penalty to my grades or anything. Then I started getting bored of that so I
tried out yet again something new to try and pass all the time. I started
painting. I painted quite a bit, but mostly landscapes.
The next phase I went through to pass time was I started to
read the Inkheart series. I automatically fell in love. I read all three books
a total of seven times and then when I was finally done rereading that series I
started to look for other books. And at first I wasn’t exactly sure what kind
of books would interest me the most. So, I went to the Barnes and Noble
bookstore in Silverdale and took a look around. I started looking at the covers
of the books to see if there were any that caught my eye (I know don’t judge a
book by its cover).
I found a couple good books and read them and after those I
went back and got more books. I fell in love with reading and I fell in love
with the story’s inside the beautiful multicolored spines that lined the
shelves of that store. There’s nothing that quite make me happy like a
bookstore does. I can understand that some people just don’t enjoy reading or
just can’t do it because that’s not how their mind likes to perceive
information. I love reading, its one of my favorite hobbies and I suggest it to
anyone with an adventurous spirit and a vivid imagination.
